"Alexander wrote to me about about the sensation of being unable to work and focus while his surroundings were so saturated and dense with juxtaposing power and value, like omnipresent noise that the quieter the night the louder it becomes. Calm and sleep become constantly uneasy. Looking at his simple video piece, made in the country, I could see the sense of space and the contrast of body on landscape, but also I felt the echo of this noise, quieter maybe, but still reverberating constantly, like an unseen voice in the space between the stillness of the image."
